The practice of Deep Listening is intended to heighten awareness of sound, silence and sounding. Pauline Oliveros engages participants in energy exercises, listening meditation, journaling on listening, improvisation and performance of Sonic Meditations and Deep Listening Pieces. Her transmission of Deep Listening Practice is informed by forty years experience and is crafted for an immersive experience.
Intensives are offered by the Founding Teachers on an occasional basis. Intensives may be as brief as an hour online or as long as a week or more in a variety of locations as scheduled.

January 15, 2011 at 5:30 PST in Seattle, WA at Town Hall. Deep Listening® Intensives are intended to encourage and facilitate extraordinary listening and extraordinary consciousness in conjunction with extraordinary musical events and environments.
Anyone is invited to attend and participate in linking with others to create an extraordinary audience experience and awaken to the potential of the evening concert with the Deep Listening Band.
Deep Listening emerged with the first recording of the Deep Listening Band that took place in the cistern at Ft. Worden, Port Townsend WA in 1988. The CD Deep Listening was produced by Stuart Dempster and released in 1989 by New Albion Records and remains available today. Pauline Oliveros coined Deep Listening and wrote about it in the liner notes of the CD. The band members agreed on the title Deep Listening and to performing subsequently as the Deep Listening Band (DLB).
Deep Listening Band continues to explore and discover the nature of listening as the way to make music and expand their own minds.
Deep Listening intensive is intended to facilitate a Deep Listening audience that understands that their consciousness is affecting and helping to produce the musical experience for all involved.
