Frequently Asked Questions for Participants

Click Here to check out a comprehensive E-Learning Module about this project

or --- Check out the Skype "how to videos":

How to get started:

  1. Get Skype and learn how to contact other participant Skype users for free. (Watch this video it may help to download) You can learn how to add a contact and then give that new contact a call by looking at this video .
  2. Respond to your invite to join the "Deep Listening Convergence" basecamp at http://virtualresidency.updatelog.com and use the messaging section to connect with collaborators. There is an initial password of "deeplistening"
  3. Organize a time to meet online and try playing some music together with other participants over Skype. If there are three or more of you use the conference call feature of skype to interconnect. If possible play with headphones or with your speakers away from the mic you are using for skype to avoid feedback caused by internet delay times.
  4. Once you are comfortable with connecting and trying some music online a Mac user in your group should contact Vonn New to get a license for "Call Recorder". Use this software to make a quicktime audio .mov file of your next Skype online get together.
  5. Drag and drop the .mov recording into the utility that comes with "Call Recorder" to turn it into a mp3. (Some may want to get the open source Audacity software to edit this content for continuity and remove unwanted sections)
  6. From you imeem account at username.imeem.com (where username is the username you chose when you signed up) make sure you have joined the "meem" called DLconvergence
  7. Upload the mp3 of your Skype rehearsal to the "upload Music" section of the DLconvergence meem .
  8. Subscribe to the podcast of this page at: http://feeds.feedburner.com/Dlconvergence so that you will be automatically updated when other participants upload their various Skype rehearsals to this shared "Meem"
  9. Comment and interact using the Blog and comment fields in imeem as well as the message forum on the basecamp site
