I grew up in a village in the Swiss Alps with the sounds of little streams, birds, kid's voices, the Swiss air force attacking the mountains, rhythms of the steam locomotives that passed our house pushing up the trains to a 2300m high mountain peak, and a lot of silence. I graduated in 1996 from the Jazz School Lucerne where I majored in Voice and minored in Arrangement/Composition and Pedagogy/Didactics.
I work as singer, singing teacher, composer and lyricist/poet in Basel, Switzerland. The main focus in my work with my students and little choruses and in my own work as a performing artist is on improvisation: through Deep Listening I sing what is right here in the very moment within me (being in an endless exchange with outside) and wants to be expressed and articulated into the outside.
The central question, that is always with me while teaching, is : How can I support my students so that they find their innermost source of creativity in order to draw from there and to express their very own inner voice through their singing voice ?
