Brigitte Meyer was born in 1954 and lives in St.Gallen, Switzerland.
I consider myself as an improviser - celloplayer -- performer - director and mentor.
My first musical steps were on the piano, they were followed by wanderings on the classical guitar. The craving for more and deeper sounds led to long and lasting journeys on the cello. On those journeys I discovered improvisation and instant composing and I was thrilled: a whole world opened up. Earning my money as an educator and trainer in human communications I also realised how much musical improvisation had to do with communication.
Meeting Pauline Oliveros in 1998 and getting in deep touch with the method of deeplistening has both encouraged me to take a sabbatical leave in 1999 and to take my artist needs more serious. I wanted to know what was inside me and I also wanted to express it. So I started a new phase in my musical journey which I call „work in progress“. I like to explore a wide range of sounds on my instrument and integrate the voice more and more. I also wrote a play during my sabbatical leave. Since 1990 I have been performing with various groups throughout Switzerland and recently also in Germany.
